Over more than three decades, I have worked on software spanning international freight, customs compliance, warehousing, finance, supply chain visibility, and customer experience. Some of these systems I built directly; others were delivered by teams I led or through collaboration with colleagues around the world.
The technology changed from dial-up Windows applications to global web platforms, mobile systems, APIs, and AI. The consistent objective was to translate complicated operational processes into reliable tools that helped people run the business.
Global freight and logistics platforms
Power NET — global transportation management system
Power NET became a full transportation management system for air and ocean freight, covering import and export operations, customer pricing and visibility, and integrated financials. Built with VB.NET and SQL Server, it eventually supported more than 2,000 users across 20 countries. The work included collaboration with OEC Canada to incorporate additional ocean-freight expertise before the platform was implemented there as well.
Power Freight — early client-server freight operations
Power Freight replaced more limited desktop tools with a multi-office client-server application for air import and export operations. Built with PowerBuilder and an early version of SQL Server on Windows NT, it supported approximately 100 users across 10 U.S. offices and established a foundation for the larger platforms that followed.
Transportation platform modernization at OEC
At OEC Canada, I have led the rebuilding and modernization of a legacy transportation management platform whose history traces back to the original Power NET collaboration. The platform supports air and ocean import and export operations, purchase-order management, pricing, and customer visibility. This work reflects a recurring theme in my career: modernizing mission-critical systems while preserving the operational knowledge embedded in them.
Warehouse management systems
I have worked on multiple warehouse platforms supporting third-party logistics operations. An earlier WMS used the same .NET and SQL Server foundation as Power NET and included a mobile radio-frequency application for warehouse execution. A later in-house WMS supports OEC’s Canadian 3PL operations across two warehouses.
Parcel transportation management
This .NET platform supported a parcel-contract reselling business and high-volume e-commerce shipments from China to the United States. It integrated with FedEx, UPS, and DHL APIs to create labels and manage billing, payment, and related parcel workflows.
Customs, trade, and regulatory compliance
Automated manifest and export filing
Early in my career, I built Windows applications that automated air-manifest processing and electronic export declarations. The manifest system helped the organization become an early freight forwarder certified for automated filing with U.S. Customs. A related export system automated regulatory declarations submitted to U.S. government agencies.
In-bond and Form 7512 application
I created a Visual Basic application that generated customs Form 7512 documentation for Immediate Transportation, Immediate Exportation, and Transportation and Exportation shipments. Years later, I discovered that a small group had quietly continued using the tool—a useful lesson in the longevity of software that solves a specific operational problem well.
JUSDA global trade management
This global trade management platform supported customs compliance across Foxconn business units in the United States. It consolidated entry data from third-party customs brokers and importer data supplied by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Capabilities included product management, Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification, and reporting and dashboards for analyzing duties, entry value, and the impact of Section 301 tariffs.
Supply chain visibility and customer experience
Videre SCM
Videre SCM was designed as a neutral supply chain control tower. It combined purchase-order, inventory, and freight visibility with integrated reporting and data visualization, giving customers a cross-system view of their supply chain activity.
JUSDA Control Tower
The JUSDA Control Tower extended the neutral visibility model across Foxconn business units and external customers. It brought operational information together across organizational boundaries and presented it through a common customer-facing platform.
Mobile driver check-call application
This application improved visibility for over-the-road truck movements without requiring drivers to install specialized software. A text message directed the driver to a browser-based check-in that captured shipment status and GPS location, creating a low-friction way to update operations teams and customers.
Early digital customer tools
My earliest software included a Visual Basic shipment-tracking application that used a dial-up modem to retrieve status information. I also developed Power Sales, an early customer relationship management system built with PowerBuilder and SQL Server, and later helped move it to the web. These projects began a long-running focus on making operational data accessible to customers and commercial teams.
Finance and enterprise integration
Freight accounting platform
After a commercial accounting package proved unable to accommodate the specialized requirements of freight forwarding, we built a new accounting module within Power Freight. It retained useful elements of the existing database design while adding the operational and financial capabilities the business required.
Across the larger freight platforms, financial integration was treated as part of the operational system rather than an afterthought. This connected shipment execution, billing, accounting, and management reporting while reducing duplicate data entry and reconciliation work.
Independent projects and applied research
BrokerBench
BrokerBench is a public AI benchmark for evaluating how well frontier language models handle customs classification. I created it to explore practical AI evaluation, ground-truth development, deterministic scoring, and the strengths and limitations of current models in a specialized business domain. Data Integration Fundamentals
I created the Data Integration Fundamentals course on Udemy to make enterprise integration concepts accessible to technology professionals and business leaders. It covers business-to-business integration, application integration, APIs, databases, data platforms, and the relationship between technical methods and business results.
Early web experiments
Independent projects have given me space to explore ideas outside enterprise software. MyLetter.to helped people create letters to elected officials about issues they cared about—an early experiment in assisted content generation. PurePortals explored user-created personal websites, similar in spirit to early web communities such as GeoCities. These projects reinforced the value of learning through small, working products.
Because many of these systems were proprietary, this portfolio focuses on business purpose, scope, and lessons rather than confidential implementation details.
